Following a long career in the hospitality industry, predominately working as a chef, before moving into management, Andy is following a passion, producing baked goods, such as sourdoughs, cakes and pastry goods. Operating from a solar powered, purpose-built, micro bakery with an aim to encourage people to move away from ultra-processed practices and use locally produced foods whenever possible.

The baking passion began in 2009, while operating the Herb Garden Cafe at Samares Manor, baking sourdoughs, an assortment of breads, cakes and scones gave further rise to pursue all things homemade.

In 2013 Andy and his wife, Gill, commenced operating Fort View Cafe, in St Aubin and all baked goods, except bread, were made on the premises. When the pandemic hit in 2020, buying local fresh bread became difficult, so Andy decided to bake the bread in-house, not realising how popular it would become! Investment in new machinery and ovens was required to cope with the appetite for fresh rolls, bread and cakes particularly his doughnuts. Customer feedback was very positive and the idea of operating a bakery was born.

Now approaching retirement Andy regards his baking, operating on a part-time basis, as a hobby rather than work!

Produce is currently available directly from his bakery, in St Brelade, Thursday to Saturday, and his bread is also available on the same days at Me & The Farmer, farm shop at Brooklands Farm, also in St Brelade.
