Jan's Craft - Doodle Wire. I’ve worked in many different mediums throughout my ongoing practice, from working with glass and pebbles, to life size cement figures (much to the annoyance of my family!).

My new and latest adventure has been working with wire - creating “Haywire” is to turn something to one’s advantage!

Recently, I took a mini exploration and travelled around Asia, which inspired me to try out a variety of different crafts, from making my own pottery & brass bracelets, to experimenting with typography in wood. But, my favourite medium to work with, comes back to wire.

My wire practice is self-taught, making my own paper wire or using different textured wire pieces. I love the versatility of wire. How it weaves & twists and builds upon itself producing either a two or three-dimensional shape, allowing each piece to be completely original and one of a kind.

I have exhibited my works across the island including local craft and vintage markets, as well as being in the permanent collection at Jersey’s Harbour Gallery and have taken part in seasonal exhibitions at the Jersey Lavender Farm. One of my biggest achievements is being recognised by, and becoming a part of, Genuine Jersey.
