Katherine Cadin Art

Katherine is a painter with a passion for vibrant colour and pattern. Living in Jersey, her work is inspired by her love of the sea and marine life. Her Greek heritage also strongly influences the colours and themes in her work.

Katherine’s studio is in the East of the island, only 3 minutes’ walk from the sea. Each day the ebb and flow of the tides will wash up a new treasure and source of inspiration for her, such as a giant spider crab, a juicy purple sea slug, or the varied rockpools full of colourful seaweed patterns, that will go on to inspire a painting.

Katherine’s passion for vibrant colour, pattern and texture is incorporated into every painting. Her Greek heritage also strongly influences the colours and themes of her work. Having lived and travelled extensively in Australia, it was there she became fascinated by the colourful and intricate dot paintings of Aboriginal artists and often uses sticks to create the dots and patterns in her paintings. All these different influences inform the intricate patterns in her work. The paint is layered in a way to create vibrant, textured pieces that bring the subjects to life. The resulting paintings are tactile to the touch, and intricately detailed and individual.

She has also designed a homeware collection including beach towels, tea towels, mugs and plates featuring her paintings of local marine life. Her work is available to view at www.katherinecadin.com
