My name is Marc McCarty, from Glassblowing Jersey and I am the only Glassblower in the Channel Islands.

I work in and run a small studio at the Devils Hole, which is open to the public. I make bespoke hand blown vessels, Sculpture and lighting.
I often blow out big bubbles for the children that are watching and demonstrate glass techniques to all my visitors.

I gained a BA Hons degree at Wolverhampton university in hot glass design and sculpture in 2003. After which, I won a scholarship to go to Seattle’s Pilchuck glass school. I returned to Europe and travelled around the glass kingdom in Sweden for a while learning as much as I could...

My work is inspired by the idea of, “dark at the bottom and light at the top” which I see as a metaphor for, life and death, earth and sky, hot and cold.

Hot glass making is a passion that will last me a lifetime.
