Jersey Oak celebrate their tenth year as a business this month with new premises for the growing company which features a stunning 3,500 square foot lifestyle showroom. The Genuine Jersey member can now be found down Rue Des Marettes in St Martin (opposite Ransoms Garden Centre) offering off-the-shelf and bespoke oak furniture design as well as a vast range of home accessories, showcasing the best unique homeware the Island has to offer.
Whilst Jersey Oak still offer their unique furniture commissions all lovingly made on the Island from solid oak, their showroom now allows them to display their full range of oak gifts, purchased furniture and homewares, and artwork and gifts from other Genuine Jersey members. Also featured is their range of personalised gifts, including signs, wine boxes and chopping boards all which can be inscribed with a unique heartfelt message.
Simon Bellwood, Director, Jersey Oak, said: “We wanted to capture that high quality, special feel at our showroom to reflect the products we sell. It was important that we found a rural location, out of town, as it creates a relaxing and engaging environment where we can service each and every customer and their individual specific requirements.”
The Company has come a long way since its start in 2007 when Simon worked out of his garage creating custom pieces of furniture. With the support of Genuine Jersey, with whom they have been associated since the beginning, they have sold their products at craft markets and local retailers before setting up a website in 2013 to expand their online offerings beyond that of their own pieces.
Having a sense of Jersey was very important to the feel of the new dynamic showroom. Artwork from local artists includes photography by Georgie Ng, paintings by Jools Holt and Mike Power and illustrations from Stephen Davies. Buying local and supporting Jersey talent is something Simon feels very strongly about and he would like to feature more of his fellow Genuine Jersey member’s products in the showroom in the future.
Their new home delivers massive opportunity for Jersey Oak. Simon has plans to expand the business to provide an interior design offering to complement their existing furniture design and restoration/repair services. The large retail space also enables them to display a range of outdoor furniture, which come winter, will be transformed into a Christmas shop with a strong Genuine Jersey feel.
