Members of the Genuine Jersey Products Association (GJPA) will help launch the Island’s Christmas celebrations as part of Jersey Tourism’s annual week-long La Fête dé Noué event which begins this Saturday (November 27th – December 5th). Islanders and visitors will be to sample Genuine Jersey festive fayre and buy a variety of Christmas gifts and goods produced by members of the Association.
For the first time in the event’s five-year history, part of the opening weekend celebrations will be staged in the magical setting of St Aubin’s Harbour. Genuine Jersey members Hamptonne Café and La Mare Vineyards will add to the festive spirit by selling steaming mugs of Onion Soup made with onions grown by Woodside Farm and warming glasses of Apple Brandy and cider produced by La Mare Vineyards.
The stalls will be outside the Parish Hall. Jersey Tourism development manager Donna Le Marrec says: “We are really delighted with the packed programme of festive activities on offer which will take place around the Island. St Aubin’s is a hugely important visitor attraction and this weekend’s celebrations will enable us to work in partnership with the vibrant trader’s group in the village as well as the imaginative and creative members of Art in the Frame, based at the Harbour Gallery”.
Members of Art in the Frame took part in this summer’s highly successful Farmers and Craft Markets organised by Genuine Jersey – which will be repeated again next year. The La Fête dé Noué celebrations will culminate in a Spirit of Christmas market in the Royal Square on Sunday, December 5th from midday to 6pm. Genuine Jersey members Woodside Farms, Jersey Provender, Sue Les Gresley and Samares Soaps will be taking part.
Woodside Farms will be selling holly wreaths and Genuine Jersey Christmas Trees over 14ft high, as well as taking orders for pre-prepared packs of Christmas vegetables including Jersey Royals. Melanie Drummond from Jersey Provender will be selling a variety of chutneys and relishes with a Christmas flavour as well as infused oils and spicy sauces.
Sue Les Gresley, who runs Sue’s Fudge, will be selling a variety of flavoured confectionary including Christmas Pudding fudge and Sue Chatterley from Samares Soaps will be selling a range of novelty soaps including a special Christmas range.
Genuine Jersey marketing co-ordinator Catherine Vint says: “It is a tribute to the quality and diversity of our members produce that so many have been invited to take part in the Island’s biggest Christmas event. The Fête dé Noué officially marks the count-down to Christmas in Jersey and this year’s event will include the biggest range of Genuine Jersey produce so far”.
